A local WWII U.S. Navy veteran from San Luis Obispo celebrated his 101st birthday by skydiving. Jimmy Hernandez decided to skydive alongside his son and grandson for his special day.
Hernandez was born in 1925, and he was raised in a family of agricultural workers. He went on to serve aboard a destroyer tender in the Pacific Ocean during WWII. Once the war ended, he returned to California. He became a carpenter and a father of 12.
