Carpinteria man arrested for possession of narcotics for sale

A Carpinteria man was arrested after an investigation that resulted in the seizure of over 9 pounds of drugs including fentanyl, methamphetamine, and cocaine along with a firearm and ammunition.

Santa Barbara detectives arrested 41-year-old Kenneth Rivas on charges including possession of narcotics for sale and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a prohibited person.

He is being held on $35,000 bail.

Police say Rivas was arrested while he was driving near Calle Real and Turnpike road in Santa Barbara.

They searched his home and found the drugs and approximately $1,100 in cash. They say the amount of drugs seized from the home equates to approximately 14,528 potentially lethal doses of fentanyl.
